Uncle Evan's Wedding Week

Well, we are (ever so slowly) starting to get back on track here in Seoul. Both kids managed to sleep until seven this morning (a huge gain for Cade who hadn't slept past 5:30am since we got here!), Eric and I have both gotten our rooms semi-organized and arranged (though the person with whom I am sharing a room emailed me last night letting me know she had re-arranged it!), and the lesson planning is underway. We also had friends over for dinner and gaming last night and Kennedy is having friends over to play this afternoon. Thankfully, we are starting to get back into a routine.

So, let's get back to the re-play of this last summer. On the Tuesday after Grandpa's wedding, we flew out to Ohio for Eric's brother's wedding.

We went to the National Air Force Museum, we did a lot of swimming, and we helped with (or stayed out of the way of!) the many last minute wedding preparations.

Went for a walk one evening in the sunshine...

Went to pick up tuxes one afternoon...Cade was pretty pleased with his new outfit!

Cooled off in the neighborhood pool...

Went to the rehearsal...where Cade was not too excited to walk down the aisle...

Got our nails done...

and enjoyed a great week spending time with family celebrating a very exciting event!!

Grandpa's Wedding

We jumped right in when we arrived in the States in early June! We spent a few days picking up some cool weather necessities and then we headed down to South Whidbey for my dad's wedding. Just the kids and grandkids spent the weekend celebrating the new nuptuals!

The view was beautiful...and the kids had a great time playing on the beach in the days before.

The day of the wedding the sun finally came out, and Gretchen's granddaughter brought her a bouquet...sweet little flower girl.

One of my dad's co-workers performed the ceremony.

The happy couple!

Our new mixed family...

We had a great seafood weekend complete with oysters, clams we dug ourselves, and halibut.

It was an awesome first weekend in the States spending time with family, enjoying good food, and relaxing!

Week 30: Sunshine

I can't believe I'm already 30 weeks into this project--only 22 weeks left. That still sounds like a lot. I have a lot to do this fall for school, so I think I'll be glad when I'm done with this little side project!

Day 200: I flew back to Seattle after my conference ended on Friday afternoon. The hotel had been storing my luggage for me, so I gave the concierge my luggage tag and he never came back with my bag. I took this shot of the shoe shine as I looked for my own bag in their storage rooms.

Day 201: Uncle Brent made a fire and the kids roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. A great summer night!

Day 202: My aunt hosted a great BBQ for us as our final farewell with my family. The kids had a great time playing with their cousins--here they are cuddling with a cousin and great grandma.

Day 203: We ran errands with the cousins today and went to the park between cast changes.

Day 204: Whoops! Forgot to take a picture, so I took one of the nightlight in the bathroom before I went to bed. We spent the day running errands, packing, and weighing suitcases while the kids played with their cousins at Jetty Island.

Day 205: Headed back to Korea--Kennedy watched our plane pull in.

Day 206: About 14 hours of travel under our belt at this point. Four more hours to go. Eric and Cade took a nap at the Tokyo airport.

I think my favorite shot of this week is the one of the kids and my grandma on the couch. It's not in the sunshine, but you can see it in the smiles on their faces! Looking back at the smiles on their faces as they spent time with family makes the long travel days and the jet lag worth it!

What a great summer we have had! This is the last day before I have to focus on school, so I wanted to get caught up on these posts before I change my focus. I've got lots to do in the next couple of weeks before school starts! But yes, I have many, many photos to edit and post, too!

Week 29: Movie Party

Hmm. Do you think I could actually get a post done on time? Nah. I didn't think so, either. I had actually written most of this post earlier, but something else came up, so here it is in a long line of my p52 posts!

Day 193: Our last day in Sun Valley. The weather wasn't as warm, but we had promised the kids ice cream, so we went for it anyway.

Day 194: We arrived in western Washington about 5am after driving through the night. So, we took a nap and got up in time to take a shower and head to the family picnic.

Day 195: Spent the day with Eric's other side of the family seeing all of the cousins which was a nice surprise since we usually see them once a year for Thanksgiving.

Day 196: Kennedy finally had her first haircut by a professional. She'd been growing her hair for the last year, but it was time for a trim, so we went for about 6 inches!

Day 197: Arrived in Boston late Tuesday night. The Boston subway is very different from the Seoul subway!

Day 198: South Side Church in Boston--such beautiful architecture there!

Day 199: We walked the Freedom Trail to the North End in Boston for a cannolli...it was delicious!

It was another long week for us! I went from Sun Valley, Idaho to the Seattle area by car and then flew to Boston, Massachusetts for a conference for three days. My favorite picture of this week is the shot of the Italian restaurant in "Little Italy" in Boston. In fact, I think it looks like it could be the location of a movie! Though I also love the shot of Kennedy on the swing!

Week 28: Summer Treats

It's hard to believe how much fun we had this summer! It's also really hard to believe that it's over!!

Day 187: Eric and I went to Leavenworth to go whitewater rafting without the kids. We went down Class IV rapids on the Wenatchee River--so much fun!

Day 188: We rode the ferry over to Whidbey Island to pick up the kids who had been staying with my dad and then had a BBQ with family.

Day 189: We left in the middle of the night to drive to Sun Valley, Idaho to spend the week playing in the sunshine! The kids were excited to roll around in the grass after being in the car for 12 hours!

Day 190: We went on a little hike on our first day in Sun Valley--through a nature trail and then up to a bear cave.

Day 191: The next day our hike was a little longer and all uphill at the ski resort. The kids did not reach the final destination, but they had fun anyway!

Day 192: While Grandpa and Gretchen went mountain biking, we spent our time in the pool!

Day 193: Cade finally learned to rely on his water wings (whether this is good or bad in the long run,  I don't know), and he had a great time "swimming" and jumping!

We had so many summer treats the last couple of months, but I think that spending time with family was the highest on our list! I love the shot of the cousins in the wagon from this week.

Week 27: KaBoom

Your fast forward preview of our summer continues as I try to catch up on my weekly posts!
Day 180: We took the kids to a nearby indoor play center that they had been asking to go to. Kennedy is in the tiger's mouth.

Day 181: We helped Lidi move into her new house and the kids were excited to use her new big bathtub for the first time.

Day 182: On only her second day in her new house, she bought a new tv!

Day 183: We went to have dinner with Eric's aunts and uncles. Aunt Suzie had cupcakes for the kids to decorate for their dessert. They were in heaven!

Day 184: Went to visit aunt and uncle on the other side and spent a nice afternoon playing golf, baseball, and croquet in the back yard.

Day 185: We attempted to go hiking on Mt. Rainier on the Fourth of July, but we ran into a lot of snow that we weren't prepared for. We ended up just having lunch and playing in the snow!

Day 186: The kids really enjoyed looking at pictures of Daddy and Uncle Evan growing up every evening while staying at grandma's house.

We ended up skipping out on fireworks this year, so I can't say that I have a picture that reflects the theme, but I do like the shot of  Eric's family that I got on Mt. Rainier on the Fourth.

Week 26: School's Out

Boy, I'll say! School's been out for more than three weeks for us at the time these shots were taken. We had flown to Seattle, Dayton, and back again by now!

Day 173: Dirty cousins in the bath after playing in the yard all afternoon!

Day 174: We were housesitting-thankfully spending 8 nights in a row in the same house-and we needed to take the dog for a walk. We went to a nearby trail with the cousins.

Day 175: We headed down to the state capitol boardwalk after going to a family anniversary party. The weather was beautiful for a few hours!

Day 176: The great farmhouse we were staying in was complete with tire swing, chickens, and fresh strawberries!

Day 177: Headed to the beach to hang out with friends for the afternoon. It was cold, but the kids still had a great time!

Day 178: Went down to Seattle to watch a Mariners game and then headed to Gasworks Park on the waterfront afterwards. A great afternoon for it!

Day 179: Made the rounds visiting friends and went to our storage unit to get out some things. We were unsuccessful getting out much of what we were looking for. The kids were not thrilled.

I like the shot of Cade on the tire swing this week. To me, that epitomizes summer time, being out of school, and freedom!
